Carlos Tapia Honored as District 2 Youth Referee of the Year for 2007
Carlos is coming from a referee family: his father and two brothers are certified referees. He got certified at the age of 11 and acquired experiences since on various fields and competitions. In the last year, Carlos has shown a great deal of desire to improve, which has shown on the field.
Carlos is currently a freshman at Galivan College and is working toward becoming a Registered Nurse.

Referees Recognized for Their Achievement
On December 5th, six leagues in District 2 participated in the First Annual Referee Recognition Award Night, sponsored by the San Jose Soccer Referee Association.
Referee Evaluation
Referees in District 2 should download and print two copies of this form, and hand one copy to each coach before the start of the game. This form should be used only for games played within District 2.

District 2 Male or Female Youth Referee of the Year
Guidelines (not exhaustive) for eligibility
- 18 year old or less in the calendar year
- Registered with USSF for the calendar year
- Referee in District 2 for at least 9 months during the calendar year
- Be recommended by their local league or District Official such as DYRA, DDI, DDA or DDR
- Act as a professional referee on and off the field which means carry well and is respected by their fellow referees
- Be a good example for youth referee
- Be a good student (having extra-curriculum activities is always a plus)
- Take the referee task seriously
- Their Parents need to fully support them as a referee:
- Have a car or access to a car for transportation
- Being willing to travel to officiate games, i.e. Tournament, CalNorth Cups such as State, Association, Regional (outside of the State), etc.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude on and off the field
- Be able to attend referee function such as clinic away from home to improve referee skills
